Khaldun Chair and Professor of Islamic Studies, at the School of International
Service, American University, Washington, D.C. A former Pakistani
ambassador to London and Fellow of Selwyn College, Cambridge, he is an authority
on Jinnah. His works include the script of the film Jinnah, Jinnah,
Pakistan and Islamic Identity: The Search for Saladin (Routledge, 1997) and
Islam Today: A Short Introduction to the Muslim World (I.B. Tauris, 1999).
